SPEED PAINTER JESSICA HAAS

Speed painter Jessica Haas will be painting two pieces at the Festival, one of which you could win!  Visit The Grand’s concession booth #107 to purchase your raffle tickets for this one-of-a-kind painting!  Jessica Kristianna Haas is the first female speed painter in America and the fastest speed painter in the entertainment industry. Since her recent win of ABC's Gong Show, Jessica currently holds the following records: performing the fastest painting on national television; the first female performance painter to paint on national television; and the first + fastest award winning female speed painter to win on a national television network. New York Magazine has named her "The Mother of the Speed painting Movement."

CHELSEA LAUMAN

AERIAL HOOP ARTIST

Hailing from San Antonio, Texas,  Chelsea specializes in acrobatic pole and aerial spiral. 

Having studied dance for several years, Chelsea began her career as an acrobat, aerialist & contortionist over a decade ago in the desert town of Santa Fe, New Mexico.   

Highlights from her career as a performer have sent her across the globe, featured her in major films, allowed her invitation to perform alongside celebrity musicians, and as a contract choreographer for Cirque du Soliels KOOZA.

Flying into the Festival will be hawks, owls, falcons, vultures, parrots and other feathery friends with Sky Kings Falconry.  Sky Kings Falconry is dedicated to the Education and Preservation of our planet’s wildlife. They employ the natural abilities of raptors and other animals to correct environmental issues. The team at Sky Kings Falconry has been working with raptors and other animals for more than 16 years, and adapted their skills to fit many situations and venues, including Galveston’s FeatherFest, the Texas Renaissance Festival and multiple school programs.

With a lively style that is warm and humorous, storyteller Sue Kuentz excites and connects to family audiences by taking them on journeys through her multicultural folktales, fairy tales, urban legends and personal stories from around the world. Using words, music, puppetry, and even string figures, she engages active participation among the listeners, mesmerizing even the most reluctant of kids. A gifted storyteller, educator. artist and dancer, Amy Bluemel’s appreciation for cultural awareness came early in life.  Raised in a military family; she lived in Germany, Okinawa, Turkey and Scotland before returning to her Chickasaw roots in America.  As the great-granddaughter of Eastman Kaney (an original Dawes Commission enrollee), Amy’s a proud member of the Chickasaw Nation.  She shares Chickasaw customs (and those of other southeastern tribes) with audiences of all ages.

Created by Dallas-based singer/songwriter and father-of-three Bradley James Skistimas, the Juicebox Jukebox mission is to enrich children’s lives through fun, positive, and educational music and videos that parents and teachers can enjoy, too. The Juicebox Jukebox songs focus on core subjects and character-building themes with a fresh perspective for students primarily in pre-K through 2nd grade. In 2019, the Juicebox Jukebox launched the Kindness Tour, a live concert experience for schools, libraries, and festivals featuring a unique blend of live music performance and video production from their growing catalog of songs. A fun and engaging program featuring live versions of Juicebox favorites like 'The ABCs of You,' 'Kindness,' and 'Thankful,' the program is all about encouraging a community of kindness.

MEMORY TURNERS

Memory Turner Mike Stall has been turning wood, teaching kids about trees, and demonstrating the art of wood turning at The Grand Kids Festival for many years. Come visit the Memory Turner in the Artisan’s Tent and learn about tree rings, types of wood and what can be made from wood. You can also play games for free, and win prizes made from trees!

ISLAND QUILTERS GUILD

Galveston Island has been the home to the Island Quilters Guild since 1991.The quilt guild's focus is to provide opportunities for its members to learn and appreciate the art of quilting; as well as, to encourage members to improve their quilting skills and exchange ideas. www.galvestonquilters.org

ART STYLE EXPLORATION X 4

Learn how to create a masterpiece in the style of each of these four historic artists.  Volunteers will lead guests in creating works in Orphic Cubism (Robert Delaunay), Abstract Painting (Jackson Pollack), Modern Art (Piet Mondrian) and Pop Art (Andy Warhol).  Explore each style to start your journey as the next art master!

Welcome to the wonderful and exciting world of screen printing. Danny Russo introduces students to a versatile printing process utilized by visual artists worldwide. The printing technique allows students to quickly and easily make multiple images of original art. MOBILE DAIRY CLASSROOM

Learn about our bovine (cow) friends! The Mobile Dairy will be at the festival for the first time this year! Brought to you by the Southwest and Southland Dairy Farmers, teaching kids about the dairy industry is one of their priorities. The Mobile Dairy Classroom is a traveling milking parlor, featuring a live cow and an oral presentation. Trained instructors will demonstrate how to milk a cow, describe how milk goes from the farm to the consumer, and then answer questions from the audience.
